RoHS is the acronym for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. RoHS, also known as Directive 2002/95/EC, originated in the European Union and restricts the use of specific hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products. The restricted materials are hazardous to the environment and pollute landfills, and are dangerous in terms of occupational exposure during manufacturing and recycling.
Most people in the electronics industry will be familiar with the RoHS directive and the need for most sectors to have their products designed and manufactured lead-free.
Datalink worked extensively to establish first-class material handling and lead-free manufacturing processes on the lead up to the RoHS deadline in 2006. Since that time Datalink has been fully compliant with the EC Directive on the Restriction and Use of Hazardous Substances. We have fully trained staff to handle and manufacture RoHS compliant products using dedicated equipment.
Systems are in place whereby RoHS compliant and non-RoHS compliant inventories are identified and traced through our MRP systems for correct kitting and routing through the factory.
Datalink has the capability, experience and in-house engineering resources to support customer requirements for engineering design services. These services offer:
